On 26 June 1972, Anno Societatis VII. the Lord Laurel Principal King of Arms made and published the following Policy Decision of the Imperial College of Arms of the Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc.:;

As of this date, and to go into effect as soon as copies of this announcement reach the four Principal Heralds of the Known world,

ALL SUBMISSIONS for registration of Arms or devices MUST be accompanied by an emblazon in full colour of the proposed device at the time they reach the Office of the Laurel King of Arms. It is the responsibility of the Principal Herald of each Kingdom to see that all submissions originating in his Kingdom are so accompanied.

A sketch in outline only, or a sketch using cross-hatchings, will not be considered to fulfill the above requirement; and any submission unaccompanied by a full colour emblazon will e held in abeyance until such an emblazon is provided.
