REJECTIONS

Kingdom of Ansteorra

Ciarraidhn na Connaught. Vert, two bars wavy argent between three garbs of wheat Or.

NOTE: Conflicts with Dunmure: Vert, three garbs Or (Papworth, p. 896). Aelfwynn found reference to names Ciaran, Ciarain, and Ceirin, but not Ciarraidhn.

Eldern Hills, Shire of. Argent, a bison statant proper upon a mount gules, overall a laurel wreath Or.

NOTE: This is metal on metal. Try a laurel wreath proper.

Genève du Ruisseau Pierreux. Argent, a sapling issuant from a stump eradicated proper within a bordure engrailed vert.

NOTE: Conflicts with Eleanora of the Gardens: Argent, a primrose of three blossoms stalked and leaved proper within a bordure engrailed vert. Genève is the French name for the city of Geneva (Switzerland). This could be a surname but not a given name. Try Genevieve.

Morgan ap Draca. Azure, three oak leaves conjoined in pall between a pair of voiders argent.

NOTE: Draca is not a proper given name and so cannot be used as a patronymic, but can be used as a surname. I will accept Morgan Draca. Also conflicts with Aikan of York (SCA): Azure, three oak leaves in pall argent between three acorns in pall inverted Or.

Sieglinde Syr. Badge. Argent, crossed in pall a sickle proper embrued at the tip and distilling three gouttes de sang, a garb of wheat proper and a grapevine stalked and leaved and fructed in base proper.

NOTE: The badge is still too busy. It has a sickle, a garb, a grape cluster, the grapevine and the bloody tip and drops of blood. Why not use the center of your device as a badge?

Kingdom of Atenveldt

Ivar of Torvaldsland. Or, in saltire a spear inverted and a lightning flash couped to sinister, surmounted by a battleaxe, all within a bordurelet azure.

NOTE: Name and device conflict with Ivar Forkbeard of Torvaldsland in Marauders of Gor by John Norman. The totem of Torvaldsland is the axe. When two charges are in saltire the dexter charge is mentioned first.

Kingdom of Atlantia

Thalgaer of Erin. Per pale and per chevron sable and vert, three shamrocks Or.

NOTE: Conflicts with Crockford: Azure, three trefoils slipped Or (Papworth, p. 865).

Kingdom of Meridies

Trimaris, Principality of. Arms.

NOTE: Still unacceptable, as it is too busy and is metal on metal.

Kingdom of the Middle

Afon Araf, Canton of. Per fess, argent and barry wavy azure and argent, a swan sable, gorged with a laurel wreath proper.

NOTE: The laurel wreath is too small. Try putting it in base or in chief. It must be at least a secondary charge, not a small detail.

Aldamel Este. Azure, a black oak tree proper surmounted by two swords in saltire argent and in chief two fox squirrels combattant proper. (Quercus velutina) (Sciuris niger)

NOTE: Este is the name of a Valar in Middle Earth and thus may not be used. The device is OK, except that there is very little contrast between the green leaves and the blue field. Give the common names for plants and animals as well as the genus and species.

Arbas Na Connachta. Azure, a pall argent between in base two caltrops Or.

NOTE: Conflicts with Collet: Azure, a pall argent (Rietstaap).

Belphebe ap Pyrhiddin. Gules, a lute bendwise sinister Or and in dexter chief a mullet, all within a bordure wavy argent.

NOTE: Belphebe was the name Spenser used for Queen Elizabeth

in "The Faerie Queen." Since no documentation is given for Pyrhiddin, I cannot tell if it sufficiently differences the name. Rejected for lack of information. The device seems OK. Note that "ap" means "son of." You want "merch."

Humpk d'Bohunk. Azure, a sword inverted proper between a pair of wings Or, surmounting the blade a Death's head argent maintaining a rose reversed gules, slipped and leaved vert.

NOTE: The argent skull on the argent blade is metal on metal. "Bohunk" is a modern American derogatory term for Czechs and thus cannot be used. Document Humpk.

Iylla Rethelsson. Azure, in bend sinister two spikes of barley embowed proper surmounted by two hops conjoined argent. (Hordeum vulgare) (Humulus lupulus)

NOTE: Rethel is a surname. You can be Iylla Rethel, but not Iylla Rethelssson.

Johanna of Dendermonde. Azure, on a bend sinister argent, a lute proper.

NOTE: Conflicts with Bisset: Azure, a bend sinister argent, and several others in the SCA. By default, a wooden object termed proper is shown in various shades of brown. Any other colors must be specified (e.g., ebony, redwood, etc.).

Lucan Wolvesbane. Argent, a bend sinister Or cotised gules and overall a wolf head caboshed sable, in dexter chief a pawprint sable.

NOTE: I received no forms for Lucan. I need documentation for the name. The bend sinister Or on the argent field is metal on metal. Send new forms.

Takeda Tamiechi. Gules, on a fess argent a delf gules charged with a lozenge throughout argent.

NOTE: Conflicts with Michael the Dane: Gules, upon a fess argent a cartouche fesswise gules voided argent.

Thrym Oddomsson. Name change from Cein Throm McAdam. Gyronny of eight, Or and gules, a white rose proper.

NOTE: Name change rejected. Thrym is a giant's name and may not be used. The device conflicts with the badge of the White Rose Society International: Gyronny Or and gules, a white rose proper.

Swordcliff, Shire of. Sable, a lozenge between two piles argent and on a chief gules, a laurel wreath Or.

NOTE: Color on color. You cannot put a gules chief on a sable field. Try a chief Or with a vert laurel wreath (or even a gules laurel wreath).

V'Tavia, Shire of. Azure, a dragonfly tergiant displayed within a laurel wreath Or, bound in base by a ribbon ermine with two stalks of wheat dependent therefrom Or.

NOTE: Document V'Tavia as a proper name. It does not look like a correct form for a name. The ermine spots on the ribbon will be hard to see.

Kingdom of the West

Aonghais Dubh MacTarbh. Badge. Gules, a flame Or voided sable.

NOTE: Conflicts with William of Sark: Sable, a flame proper. The badge is the counterchange of William's device, which only gives you 1/2 point of difference.

Richard of Seahaven. Badges. On a gore gules an ermine spot. On a gore an ermine spot sable.

NOTE: Both badges rejected, pending decisions by the College on using ordinaries without fields and on using tinctureless charges on other charges.

Silver Desert, Province of. Azure, a pall inverted cotised between three Bighorn ram's heads caboshed argent, in chief a laurel wreath vert.

NOTE: The laurel wreath is too small, and placing it in chief unbalances the arms. Try putting it on the center of the pall. The pall is then surmounted by the wreath. You could also replace the ram's head in base with a laurel wreath argent.

Susanna of Inverness. Azure, a Loch Ness monster statant contourné reguardant Or.

NOTE: Rejected for lack of documentation.
