Dail y Eiliwriad o Cwm Cwymp Dŵr. Vert, a scarpe argent between an oak leaf and a castle of three stepped towers Or.

NOTE: Appeal accepted. The difference between an ordinary and its subordinary is 1/2 point. Two points of difference of the same category are not as different as two points from separate categories. Hence, they count as 11/2 points. This was in my Herald's Handbook, but may have gotten left out of the T.I. article. I hereby proclaim this rule to exist.

Freana Geardson. Vert, a narwhal bendwise, tail nowed, within a bordure Or.

NOTE: A mascle is considerably wider. You have drawn it on a lozenge, so a tressure looks like a thinner mascle. If you intended it to be a mascle, then let me know, but you will have to make it twice as wide.

Lydia Nové. Argent, a gore vert, in sinister a pine bough leaved and fructed proper.

Kingdom of Caid

Alexandre de Bonne Chance. Per bend sinister vert and argent, a bend sinister counter-ermine between a fleur-de-lys and another inverted counterchanged.

NOTE: "Chance" is feminine, so you must use the feminine form "bonne," and thus "de" is correct instead of "du."

Jean Lois de la Bête. Sable, on a sun a lion rampant reguardant sable, all within a tressure demi-flory Or.

NOTE: Combining English given names with a French sobriquet like this is a bad practice because it is confusing. Everyone will want to correct this to Jeanne Eloise. The only reserved tressure is a double tressure flory-counter-flory.

Louise of Woodsholme. Gules, in pale a flame proper and an ermine tail between in chevron two ermine tails Or.

NOTE: An ermine tail is an ermine spot without the dots.

Marcus of the Locked Mountain. Vert, three chevronels Or, overall a castle sable, fimbriated Or.

Su of the Silver Horn. Azure, in fess a drinking horn bendwise argent and a flower of four heart-shaped petals saltirewise Or, barbed vert, seeded argent, within a bordurelet sable fimbriated Or.

NOTE: A Mamluk rosette is a charge from Saracenic heraldry. Rosettes come in various numbers of petals, with the Mamluk rosette having six petals and the Rasūlid rosette having five. The Mamluk rosette looks like a variant of a sexfoil.

Elspeth Yseult Fitzalden. Gyronny Or and argent, issuant from a maunch azure a falconer's gauntlet sable grasping a lure gules.

Eriod of Eire. Sable, a bezant between the horns of a crescent, all within nine mullets in annulo argent.

REJECTIONS

Kingdom of Ansteorra

Aureliane Rioghail. Badge. A mascle azure interlaced by a Bowen knot in cross fretted Or.

NOTE: Appeal denied. Putting it on argent is metal on metal. There is ZERO point(s) of difference for having a fieldless badge versus having a field. Try making the whole thing azure and then put it on argent, or make the whole thing Or and put it on azure. You could even make the mascle argent and then put it on azure.

Erin Emeraldstar. Or, a pallet between a shamrock and a mullet inverted vert.

NOTE: Appeal rejected. The rule is as follows: One must provide evidence for the acceptability of a given name. A citation in a name book counts as evidence (but not conclusive evidence). Such a citation is sufficient unless an objection can be found in period, such as use of the name as a surname in period. Then it is up to the submittor to show that the name was used as a given name in period. If you can find which legendary queen was named Erin, then you can use it.

Lucas the Grey. Sable, a dogwood blossom proper within a bordurelet argent. (Cornus flordia)

NOTE: Appeal denied. A bordure versus a bordurelet is at most 1/2 point. A white dogwood blossom is not a full point of difference from a rose argent. You need 11/2 points.

Sieglinde Syr. Badge. Argent, crossed in pall a sickle proper embrued at the tip and distilling three gouttes de sang, a garb of wheat proper and a grapevine stalked and leaved and fructed in base proper.

NOTE: Appeal denied. The badge is too busy! If she will drop the embrued tip and three gouttes de sang, then I will accept it, as that will remove ten words from the blazon.

Kingdom of Atenveldt

Alistar of Brienne. Per bend sinister argent and azure, a maunch counterchanged.

NOTE: The name is acceptable. Device conflicts with Flamville: Argent, maunch azure, and Coyners: Azure, a maunch argent (Papworth, p. 977). Counterchanging per bend sinister like this is 1 point of difference. (I don't know how we missed this last time. I apologize for not catching it before.) Try adding a bordure counterchanged.

Bogar ap Howel. Sable, four eagles' heads erased in cross, facing clockwise, necks outward, Or.

NOTE: Conflicts with Albeck: Sable, four eagles' heads and necks Or (Rietstaap).

Fitz of Hempffe. Azure, in chief a label of three dovetailed points Or surmounted by a war axe inverted reversed Or, hafted proper, overall a clay pipe bendwise sinister argent.

NOTE: Fitz is not a given name. It is not even a name at all, but a word meaning "son of." You need to add a given name. Criss-crossing charges like this are not proper design. The combination of hemp and a pipe is somewhat offensive to current mores.

Ormilda Freidis of Olmsfjord Vert, a bell within in orle a two-headed serpent, its heads respectant. in chief, Or.

NOTE: Conflicts with Arthur Bell & Sons, Ltd.: Vert, a bell Or (Lyon Ordinary II--0235).

Kingdom of Atlantia

Aloys Felix.

Name referred back to submittor. Aloys is a Provençal form of Louis. Both it and Felix are masculine as names. Felix as an adjective is the same in both genders. Aloysia, Aloysa, Aloyse, Alys are all feminine forms. Do you really want two male names? You have the right, but it is unusual.

Atlantia, Kingdom of. Badge for Order of the Fountain. Azure, a fountain.

NOTE: Conflicts with the Royal Society of Health: Azure, a fountain radiating Or.

Bran ap Howell. Per pale sable and argent, a chief indented counterchanged.

NOTE: Conflicts with Fitz-Warren. Fitz-Warren has the exact same thing (Papworth, p. 560)!

Caer Mear, Barony of. Seren Pursuivant.

NOTE: There is a Shire of Mynydd Seren already. There is a Sea Star Pursuivant. Therefore, Seren Mor Pursuivant should not be used. Seren Pursuivant conflicts with Star Principal Herald. Try Sea Castle Pursuivant.

Ciaran of Kells. Gules, on a chevron between three cups Or, three crosses crosslet fitchy sable.

NOTE: Conflicts with Coppo: Gules, a chevron between three cups Or (Rietstaap).

Dur rull Gron. Argent, a mountain sable between in chief a diamond crystal proper and in base seven annulets interlaced, in fess sable.

NOTE: Octahedral diamond crystals were not in period. Like all transparent charges, a diamond crystal is argent. You cannot put it on argent. Dur rull Gron is a made-up name and is therefore not an acceptable name. The rule now is that names must be made of period names, variant spellings, or combinations of period names, or plausible constructions in keeping with period names. This name is sheer gibberish. Seven annulets braced is excessive. This whole thing is modern style, not pre-1600 heraldic style. It looks like a corporate logo.

Genviève de l'épée d'argente. Azure, six swords conjoined at the pommels in estoile and on a chief potenty argent an annulet sable, involved of a vine vert, between a decrescent and an increscent azure.

NOTE: This has six different types of charges and is, therefore, too complex. Try having three crescents on the chief instead, or some other simpler form. The six swords are pretty.

Hidden Mountain, Shire of. Sable, a mountain voided charged with three clouds one and two argent and in dexter chief a laurel wreath Or.

NOTE: Argent clouds on the argent mountain outline are metal on metal. This is not period heraldic style. I suggest: Sable, on a mountain voided between three clouds argent a laurel wreath Or.

Imran Yosuf. Azure, a scorpion tergiant erect argent.

NOTE: Conflicts with the device of Allyn O'Dubhda: Purpure, a scorpion tergiant erect argent.

Kapellenberg, Canton of. Canon Pursuivant.

NOTE: Canon is not appropriate for a heraldic title, as it implies saint's lists, minor clergy or religious rules. Try Chapel Pursuivant.

Karl der Kleinefuße. Sable, a roundel engrailed pierced argent.

NOTE: Conflicts with Kourost Bernard of the East Woods: Sable, a sun eclipsed Or. The two are too similar visually.

Morgana the Perilous. Gules, in sinister chief an octofoil environed of eight gouttes in annulo, points to center, Or.

NOTE: The name is insufficiently differenced from Morgana Le Fey and the goddess Morrigan. Those gouttes are awfully small. Close to Sara of the Rushes: Gules, a star of eight points alternating straight and rayonny Or, the rayonny points voided.

Myfanwy O'Mwyle ni Cambion. Vert, on a fusil throughout gules fimbriated, a goblet Or.

NOTE: Document the given name Myfanwy, Send me a photocopy of the page you find it on.

Reagan of the White Dawn. Per bend sinister azure and vert, a songbird migrant bendwise, maintaining in its beak a fusa Or.

NOTE: Musical Notes cannot be used in devices, but can be used in badges.

Kingdom of Caid

Ambros Celidonis. Vert, in bend sinister a double-sail-backed salamander bendwise arched argent, orbed gules, and a bowl fesswise Or flammant proper.

NOTE: If it is Latin, it should be Chelidonius (of the swallow). If it's Greek, it should be Chelidonios. I will accept Ambros instead of Ambrose. Choose one of the proper forms for the surname (Ambros is closer to Greek). I would prefer a standard heraldic position for the monster.

Camber Eben. Per pale gules and azure, a pallet per fess Or and argent.

NOTE: Conflicts with Sundt: Per pale gules and azure, a pale argent (Rietstaap).

Casimer of Silesia. Or, an eagle's leg couped embowed fesswise sable charged with a heart Or.

NOTE: Conflicts with Klaauw: Or, an eagle's leg sable (Rietstaap).

Douglas the Tall. Sable, in pale a chalice and two arrows inverted in saltire argent.

NOTE: Conflicts with Alric Bowbreaker of the High March: Sable, two arrows inverted in saltire between in pale a crescent inverted engrailed in chief, raguly in base, and a like crescent, all argent.

Eden Summerhawk. Badge for House Summerhawk. Purpure, on a sun Or an annulet gules, overall two hawks rising respectant, wings addorsed and elevated, the dexter argent fimbriated and the sinister sable.

NOTE: The annulet must be drawn at least four times thicker. The badge is too complicated. Fimbriating a living charge generally adds too much complexity. Fimbriation should be reserved for simple charges. Try expanding the annulet and making both hawks sable.

Hrorek Halfdane of Faulconwood. Badge. A mullet voided with and conjoined to an annulet Or.

NOTE: Conflicts with a badge of the Wiccan Society. They have the same thing.

Keradawc an Cai.

Appeal denied. You can have a Welsh name, or an Anglicized Welsh name, but not something halfway in between. Welsh does not use the letter K. English does not use W as a vowel in this fashion.

Levon Stahlmann. Gules, four lozenges conjoined in cross gyronny argent and gules, fimbriated, between three mullets argent.

NOTE: Conflicts with Antisell: Gules, three mullets argent (Papworth, p. 994). What is the derivation of Levon?

Rhyance ap Llewellyn. Sable, a winged lion sejant affrontée, wings displayed, chased and in chief a Celtic cross chased argent.

NOTE: I need the derivation for Rhyance as a Welsh given name.

The device is rather lacking in contrast and extensively complex-looking, although technically legal.

Rhyance ap Llewellyn. Badge. Azure, in pale a harp seal pup couchant guardant to sinister proper resting on a bar argent and in base a bottlenose dolphin embowed proper. (Pagophilus groen-landicas) (Tursiops truncatus)

NOTE: The badge seems acceptable, but I need the name documentation before I can pass it.

Roger de Bremble. Badge for Le Coeur Blanc. Vert, a hart salient argent within a bordurelet Or.

NOTE: Conflicts with the Princess of the Outlands: Vert, a hind salient argent, in sinister chief a Saxon crown, all within a bordure Or.

Kingdom of the West

Briany Asfala Exeter du Baraine. Vert, a lioness rampant argent, estoilly azure, within a tressure Or.

NOTE: Document the name. Draw the tressure much wider.

Caradwen of Lynxcairne. Per bend rayonny azure and gules, a unicorporate pegasus salient argent, winged Or.

NOTE: Conflicts with Arianwen of Urquart: Vert, a horned pegasus salient argent, armed and unguled purpure. Try reversing the whole thing.

Demian O'Boirne. Azure, two seals couchant respectant and in chief a crescent argent.

NOTE: Conflicts with the Atenveldt College of Magicians: Azure, two mullets of four greater and four lesser points in fess and in chief a crescent argent.

END OF REJECTIONS
