29 January 1985, A.S. XIX

Unto the members of the College of Arms,

from Baldwin of Erebor, Laurel King of Arms.

My lords and ladies,

Enclosed herewith are the acceptances and returns for the Laurel meeting of January 56. The letters processed at this meeting were Atenveldt (10/2), Atenveldt (10/3), East (10/9), Calontir (10/9), East (10/22), Caid (10/24), Middle (10/25), West (10/26), Middle (10/28), and Laurel (11/6). There were a total of 313 items approved, 59 returned, and 6 pending, for an 83% approval rate.

Schedule

Batonvert has suggested that letters of intent be scheduled for processing on the basis of the projected meeting date, and that anything received after the schedule is announced be carried over to the following, meeting. (I am currently scheduling letters by month of issue.) This seems like a reasonable idea it gives the corresponding heralds more advance notice of the letters on which they will need to comment, and it evens out the commenting interval so I thought we'd give it a try for the next couple of months, so see how it works out.

The letters to be processed at the Laurel meeting of February 3 are Ansteorra (11/1), Middle (11/1), Meridies (11/1), Caid (11/8), West (11/11), Atenveldt (10/15), Atlantia (11/15), Atenveldt (11/20), East (11/22), and East (11/26). The Atenveldt letter of 11/26 and the East letter of 11/27 have been moved forward to March, to help ease the transition to the new schedule.

The March meeting is scheduled for the 10th. The letters to be processed at this meeting are Atenveldt (11/26), East (11/27), Caid (12/6), Calontir (12/8), Middle (12/10), Atenveldt (12/10), West (12/17), Meridies (12/17), East (12/25), East (12/26), and Laurel (1/1/85).

The April meeting is scheduled for the 14th. The letters to be processed at this meeting are West (12/17), Meridies (12/18), Atlantia (12/31), West (1/10), East (1/14), Calontir (1/7), Caid (1/19), Atenveldt (1/22), and Laurel (1/28). [I have not yet received the Meridies LoI of 12/18, although I have received comments on it.]

Mailing list

Brigantia has reported two errors in last month's corrections to the mailing list: Aurochs Pursuivant is Andreanna, not Andriana, and Blue Tyger's ZIP code is 11423, not 11425. Obelisk Herald has a new ZIP code, 73507. Please remove Master Edmund Renfield Wanderscribe from the list of commenting heralds.

As we wait for my lock to cycle

I say, "My wife has just given me a son."

"A son!" you cry, "Is that all that you've done?"

Nicholas Graham Foster, weight eight pounds, five ounces, was born January 16, 1985, at 3:09 a.m. Mother and baby are doing fine; father was last seen wandering on the outskirts of reality.

Please believe that I remain,
