OOPS! OOPS! OOPS! OOPS! OOPS! OOPS! OOPS! OOPS! OOPS! OOPS! OOPS

Unto all who may be under the impression that they have hit a time warp, greetings from Alisoun MacCoul of Elphane!

Since the enclosed letter was completed some three weeks ago, you may well wonder what we have been doing in the interim. . .

It all comes under the heading of "The Toys Are So Nice When They Work". As many of you know, I work in the computer industry and one of the perks of my employment is (usually) undisputed possession of state-of-the-art printing equipment which has contributed to making the letters of acceptance and return not only prettier, but also significantly less expensive to produce since it reduces the number of pages involved in each letter by a significant margin.

Unfortunately, just as we were about the print and send this letter out to Codex for reproduction, one of our more important clients had the LED printer go down and would not pay any outstanding debts until we fixed or replaced it. It could not be fixed without return to the factory. The printers have suddenly become so popular that they are "on allocation" and none could be found to buy for them. We needed the money (at that point they owed us half a million dollars!). End result was that they swapped out my hitherto sacrosanct printer for their broken one and I only got a replacement yesterday.

Since this letter would have cost nearly 75% more to print and mail if it were run on the printer at home, it seemed prudent to await the return of the "good" printer. I hope this administrative decision has not caused undue hardship to anyone, but equally hope all understand that sometimes the mundane gets in the way.

Your servant,

[Alisoun]
