Approvals

KINGDOM OF ANSTEORRA

Athelstan of Staffordshire. Name only.

Cainnleach Aileen O'Shaughnessy. Name only. The name was submitted as Cailleach Aileen O'Shaughnessy. In this case, the documentation from Yonge (p. 261) is somewhat dubious and may derive from a misreading of the original Irish source which she believes gives that as the name of devotee of Saint Kevin. In fact, that is the common Irish source noun for a "hag". This is used sometimes for a human old woman (and this is probably the sense that appears in the manuscript lives of Saint Kevin). However, when used as a proper noun, it refers exclusively to a class of supernatural witches who are often associated with the power to raise storms, particularly on the open sea. Given this, the name would require some very solid evidence for period use by humans. since the submittor allowed changes to her name, we have used a similar sounding Irish female name, meaning "lustrous", (Ó Corráin & Maguire, Gaelic Personal Names, p. 43).

Caitrin O'Sullivan of Killarney Lake. Device. Argent, on a lozenge purpure, a greatsword argent, all within a bordure engrailed azure.

Carlos Richey. Name and device. Azure, in bend sinister two rams heads, erased and respectant within a bordure argent.

Charla Noël du Lac. Name and device. Azure, a dexter gore Or and a lotus in profile argent. Her mundane given name is Charla.

Deirdre Lasairíona ni Raghailligh. Name only. The name was submitted as Deirdre Lasariona ni Reille. By the submittor's own documentation, the spelling of the second given name is as registered. We could find no documentation for this particular form of "reilly" and, in any case, the Irish is appropriate after the feminine particle. Therefore, we have substituted that form (the submittor should be reminded, however, that the spelling changed does not cause a pronunciation change).

Gest Grimsson. Name only.

Giovanni Lorenzo da Montefiori. Spelling correction. When the name was registered in June, 1989, the preposition typed was accidentally the more common form "di".

Hokumori Yoshiie. Name and device. Azure, crusilly, a sycamore leaf and a chief nebuly Or. While the letter blazoned the crosses as "in orle", their position was not actually "orlish", but more of a very regular semy. As the blazon included on the paperwork indicated that this was the intent, we have blazoned it as a field crusilly.

Hokumori Yoshiie. Badge. Argent, a bunch of grapes, slipped and leaved proper, within an orle of crosses crosslet purpure.

Hossein Ali Qomi. Name only.

Hugh of Crawley. Name only.

Katrina Elsbet von Koenigsberg. Name only.

Marke von Mainz. Name only.

Owen Stott. Name only. This is an eccentric use of the tierce (which is itself eccentric) but it is legal under our rules.

Thorid Gnyrlik of Wolfstar. Name only (see RETURNS for device). The submittor should probably be informed that "Thoridr" is a female name (Geirr Bassi, p. 16).

Thorstein Gunnarsson. Name only.

KINGDOM OF ATLANTIA

Lochlann Niall MacGhille Fhionnain. Blazon correction. Quarterly azure and argent, in pale a pegasus courant to sinister and a sun counterchanged. When this was registered in August, 1989, the letter of intent blazoned the beastie erroneously as a winged bull passant to sinister (sometimes having staff double check the emblazons backfires!).

CALONTIR

Anne McHenry.
Device. Per pale Or and sable, a Bourchier knot counterchanged, on a chief gules, two bees Or.

Annys de Vernun of Kettering. Name and device. Bendy Or and gules, a bend sinister counterchanged. Although the letter of intent referred to the field as "bendy gules and Or", the uppermost trait on the emblazon sheet is Or. Please ask the submittor to draw the bend a lot wider, as is appropriate for the sole charge on the field.

Eleanor Deyeson. Name and device. Per bend engrailed argent and azure, a dove volant and an escallop counterchanged.

Elisabeth de Rossignol. Gules, a hawk's lure Or.

Gawain McHenry. Device. Vert, a chevron Or, a masoned vert, between two horse's heads, couped and respectant, and a thistle, slipped and leaved, Or.

Lost Forest, Shire of. Name and device. Vert, on a chevron ermine three fir trees palewise couped vert, in base a laurel wreath argent. Technically, this is carried clear of the device of the Shire of Wealhhnutu ("Vert, on a chevron throughout argent, three walnuts fesswise proper, in base a laurel wreath argent.") by the fact that the tertiaries differ in type, tincture and orientation so that a major point of difference is possible even under the current rules.

Pont du Nord, Shire of. Name and device. Azure, a tau cross throughout argent, masoned sable, between two laurel wreaths Or. This design is eccentric, but technically legal.

Sarah McHenry. Name and device. Per pale purpure and vert, a chevron argent, in chief in fess a decrescent and a sun Or.

William of Friedrichsburg. Name only.

KINGDOM OF THE EAST

Aceline Barrett of Seven Oaks. Change of name from Aislinn nic Eoghainn.

Alaistair Nigel Sinclair. Name and device. Per saltire gules and azure, a clarion Or within a bordure countercompony Or and sable.

Ar n-Oileán-na, Shire of. Name only. The name was submitted as Shire of Ar n-Eilean-ne. The form "eilean" is Scots Gaelic as are the remaining submitted forms. As Brigantia indicates that the submittors desired the Irish form, we have modified it as suggested by Brachet.

Asa Hito. Device. Vert, a demi-sun issuant from base within and conjoined to a torii gate Or.

Barak ben David. Name and device. Argent, a caltrap within a bordure sable.

Bérengar de Clisson. Name only.

Bjálfi Thodarson. Name and device. Lozengy sable and OR, a pile issuant bendwise from sinister base gules.

Brewerskeep, Canton of. Device. Azure, a lymphad within a laurel wreath, on a chief indented argent three snowflakes azure.

Cahan Kyle. Name and device. Azure, two tusks, tips crossed in saltire, Or.

Catherine Ecceles. Name and device. Azure, a shakefork between a decrescent and two wolves sejant respectant ululant argent.

Cecelia Erwyn of Etterick. Name and device. Argent, three bendlets enhanced sable and in base a griffin's head erased gules.

Darius of the Broken Blades. Name and device. Bendy sinister nebuly azure and argent, a torteau within a bordure gules.

David ha-Yansuf ben Nathan. Name and device. Argent, an owl's head caboshed within three mullets of six points azure.

Donal Artur of the Silver Band. Name only (see RETURNS for device).

Fiona Siobhan of Kincora. Name only.

Fionnghuala Leasa na Linne. Change of name Fionnghuala an Duin na Linne. The name was submitted as Fionnghuala an Liosa Linne. As the submittor requested, we have taken the byname as close as possible to the meaning to "ring fort of the lake" using "lios" and "linne".

Fionnghuala Kieren. Name only. The name was submitted as Fionnghuala ni Kieren. As "Kieren"/"Kieran" is the anglicized form of the Irish name "Ciaran". it is inappropriate to use it with the Irish patronymic particle "ni". As dropping the particle creates less of a sound difference than changing the patronymic to the proper Irish form "ni Chiaráin", we have followed that path.

Friederich von Strassburg. Name and device. Azure, on a bend between two crosses crosslet, the foot plain, argent, a war hammer sable, all within a bordure dovetailed argent.

Glenn Linn, Shire of. Device. Vert, on pale between two laurel wreaths argent two pallets wavy azure.

Ifor Kyddy. Device. Per pale sable and argent, a lion rampant counterchanged, on a chief gules two chrysanthemum flowers in profile Or.

Jacques Michel Navarre. Change of name from Thorgrim Olesson.

Kaie Killicky. Name only.

Karel Jager. Name only.

Karl Karlsson Grjólætkski. Name only. The name was submitted as Karl Karlsson frá Grjólækr, with the submittor indicating that he wished the byname "from Stony Brook". The adjectival byname seems more proper for Old Norse on the basis of a number of analogous constructions shown in Geirr Bassi (e.g., "danki" meaning "from Denmark", "flamski" meaning "from Flanders", "haukdoelski" meaning "from the Hawk Dale", "háleyski" meaning "from Helgoland", "upplenzki" meaning "from Uppland", "vestfirzki" meaning "from the West Fjords", etc).

Kobayashi Yutaka. Change of device. Azure, a hurst of two Japanese cherry trees in full bloom couped proper within eight bezants in annulo. When the submittor's device was originally registered in Jul.y, 1980, a mistake in the original letter of intent and emblazon sheet sent from kingdom led the trees to be blazoned as plain trees proper (i.e., oakish with green leaves). Upon making this discovery somewhat belatedly, the submittor has petitioned for relief and a change of device to his original submission on "hardship" grounds. The relevant heralds having testified that this was an error at the time, it seems reasonable to allow the solecistic cherry trees (whose upper portion is pink, i.e., gules): if anything, the contrast is improved here from the low contrast of the original green trees and there is little doubt that the submission would have passed without controversy had it been presented in its original form when the device was first registered.

Macsen Felinfoel. Badge. Gules, a dragon statant erect to sinister, wings displayed, argent. While it is true that the dragon on his device, registered in March, 1986, have the body in nearly this position, the "sideways" aspect of the body is clearer on the device, due to the delineation of the body. Moreover, the wings are the proper draconian batwings, not the mildly marine objects depicted here. While the anomalies are not quite enough to warrant return of the badge, the submittor should be strongly encouraged to depict the beasties as it appears on his device.

Máire Dromond. Name and device. Per chevron throughout gules and sable, a horse salient to sinister, in chief two Celtic crosses argent.

Mary Phillipa of Berwick. Name and device. Or, three scarpes enhanced and in sinister base a winged unicorn statant to sinister azure.

Maximillian von Halstern. Change of name from Maximillian der Sperling.

Morgan of Surrey. Device. Azure, a recorder within a bordure rayonny Or.

Reynard of Saint Pyr's Well. Holding name and device (see RETURNS for device). Per chevron sable semy-de-lys Or and Or, in base a winged spur palewise sable. The submission was made under the name Reynard le Gascon.

Richard the Ridiculous of Radnor. Name only.

Roberta Tyrell. Name and device. Per fess gules and Or, two snow leopards rampant addorsed and three chevronels braced gules.

Roïne Dentillière de la Voile Rouge. Change of name from Charolette Kerri O'Donelle of the Misty Hills. The name was submitted as Roèn Dentillière de la Voile Rouge. While Brigantia has documented the form "Roena" from Latinate Old English sources, the form without the terminal a and with the closed "è" is not documented, which is required under the current rules since the submitted form does appear as a place name in period. As the submittor's original appeal material was not forwarded to Laurel, we could not tell if she would allow changes to "Roena" which would have been the preferred form on linguistic grounds in addition to retaining a sound closer to the original. Failing this paperwork, we must assume she still does not allow charges other than those specifically designated (i.e., to the alternate form cited by Brigantia) and register that form.

Simon Dubh MacBrian o Glen Rannoch. Badge. Per pale and per chevron in fess two swords palewise counterchanged.

Sithric Larsson. Name and device. Sable, an estoile of four greater and four lesser points between in chief two dragon's heads couped, addorsed and incensed, all within a bordure engrailed argent.

Somerled MacEth MacDonal of Moray. Name and device. Vert, two wings, conjoined and inverted, and on a chief dovetailed argent, three wyverns erect sable.

Valdemar Eisendrachen. Name only.

Varyn Crowningshield. Argent, a horse's head, couped and sinister facing, and a chief wavy purpure.

Ygraine of Preston. Device. Per chevron rayonny azure and Or, in base a sprig of poison ivy vert. [Irreverent comment from Laurel staff member: "This doesn't make me twitchy; it makes me itchy. . . "].

KINGDOM OF MERIDIES

Cathair na nEach Rua. Name only. The name was submitted as Cathair na h-Eich Ruao. We have modified it to the correct Irish form for "Cathair of the Red Horses".

Eleanore de la Mare. Name and device. Erminois, a peacock pavanated proper within a bordure wavy azure. While this is close to the device of Cassadoria Finialla ("Erminois, a peacock close tergiant pavanated proper and on a chief sable three daisies argent."): it is technically clear, having a solid major and minor under the current rules for the type and tincture of the secondary and another minor for addition of the tertiaries. In appearance, the two devices appear to be cadenced versions of the same root device, but that is legal so long as the root device is also not registered.

Elizabeth Erin MacCabe. Name only. Her mundane middle name is "Erin". If she really wishes to use a name without the Elizabeth, perhaps she could be introduced to the period Irish feminine name "Eórann" (Ó Corráin & Maguire, Gaelic Personal Names, p. 88) or "Érannach" (ibid, p. 89).

Eric de Northwode. Name only.

Evayne Addenbrooke. Spelling correction (see RETURNS for device). The final "e" was omitted from name when it was registered in February, 1989.

Fithir Gormlaith Murrough. Device. Paly argent and vert, on a chief vert, four fathers bendwise sinister argent. Since the submission consists only of a field and a charged ordinary, a major point of difference can be derived from the differences in number and type of tertiary from Siobhan bic an Bhaird ("Vairy en point vert and argent, on a chief vert a sprig of three oak leaves and two acorns argent.") and the Shire of Branswatch ("Paly of eight vert and argent, on a chief triangular a laurel wreath argent.").

Gershon ben Avraham. Spelling correction. When the name was registered in March, 1989, the given name was spelled with a final "m".

Gloria Kirkhouse of Tain. Device. Gules, on a cradle Or, two towers sable, all within a bordure Or. It seems wisest to leave the precise form of the cradled and the detailing of the towers to artistic discretion.

Gloria Kirkhouse of Tain. Badge for Condottieri of the Twin Cities. Or, a bend wavy azure between two towers, all within a bordure sable. While the Laurel staff, like Badger, immediately thought of Minneapolis-St. Paul, the term "twin cities" is generic enough to be registered in this context.

Kane Redfeather. Change of device. Argent, two arrows inverted in saltire sable, fletched, on a chief gules, a tyger dormant Or.

Keith of the Oaks. Name only. Keith is his mundane given name.

Kieran Forrestier. Name and device. Per chevron sable and azure, a chevron rompu argent between two crosses pommetty and a winged lion-dragon erect Or.

Laure Ellin Faucon. Name only.

Michael Galen Mackintosh. Device. Argent, a Celtic cross purpure between four thistles, slipped and leaved, sable, all within a bordure indented purpure.

Raushan ibn Khursheed. Name only.

Robert Cattanach of Moravia. Name and badge. Argent, a water bouget between in fess a fish urient tergiant and a fish haurient tergiant azure.

Saxus of Arunshire. Change of badge. Azure, on a pale between in chief two tau crosses, in base a dove migrant to chief gules.

Tristan Alleyne. Name only. The name was submitted as Tristan ap Alleyne. As "Alleyne" is a documented spelling of the English form of the Welsh "Alun", French "Alain", etc., we have dropped the Welch patronymic particle "ap".

KINGDOM OF THE WEST

Aelfric of Dorcestre. Name only.

Ann Cheri Dalyell Mac Dowell. Name and device. Per bend azure and gules, in bend sinister a needle bendwise, eye to base, environed of its thread, argent and flames of fire Or, all within a bordure per bend argent and Or. The name was submitted as Cheri Dalyell Mac Dowell with the note that "Cheri" was the submittor's mundane given names. It is true that the mundane name line on t he Western forms show the given name as "Cheri". However, the Western forms, like those of some other kingdoms, require a signature from the submittor and the signature on these forms is "ann Cheri Charitot", indicating that "Cheri" is not the submittor's actual given name, but a middle name commonly used informally for address. Unfortunately, the current rules are very clear on restricting the mundane name allowance to corresponding parts of the Society name. Therefore we have added her actual mundane name to register the name and device as a whole.

Arielle of Amberwood. Change of name from Arielle of Golden Rivers.

Duncan Tiercel MacLeod. Name and device. Per bend azure and vert, a falcon striking argent and a chief countercompony sable and argent.

Echri Dubh. Name and device. Per fess sable and argent, in pale two winged unicorns couchant, wings elevated and addorsed, counterchanged.

Elrik Skap-Vargr. Change of device. Quarterly argent and sable, a cross couped and on a chief gules, three grenades Or, enflamed proper. His old device of "Per saltire vert and argent, an eagle displayed grasping a double-axe counterchanged". should become a badge.

Gwydion Gwirion. Name and device. Argent, a wyvern erect azure and a chief gules. This is technically and visually clear of the recently registered device of Mairgreg of Bryn Gwlad ("Argent, a wyvern erect azure and on a chief wavy very, three escallops argent."), although it made a number of us rather twitchy because of the identity of the "base coat". Functionally, the two devices appear to be cadenced versions of the same device, but are technically sufficiently different from on another.

John of Two Towers. Name and device. Purpure, in fess two towers Or.

Kay the Innocent of Bel Anjou. Device. Per pale sable and argent, a chief fretty counterchanged. Although the letter blazoned the "decoration" of the chief as "five saltires", the visual effect is one of the standard depictions on a chief fretty and is more simply blazoned in this manner.

Maeva Torfadotttir. Device. Potent, a crescent inverted Or.

Martin de Mont Blanc. Name only.

Micheila MacCallum. Name and device. Vert, a garden rose palewise, slipped and leaved, and on a dexter gore Or, a garden rose gules, slipped and leaved vert. This design, which essentially includes a field "per fore", is as unbalanced and non-period as you can get and still be "legal" under our rules.

Morgan MacDowell. Name and device. Per fess argent and sable, a fess between a wold statant and a stag's head, all counterchanged.

Odindisa of Vestfold. Name and device. Or, an apple sable, mulletty of four points Or, within a bordure sable. The given name has been documented by a reference to a runestone raised by a husband in honour of his wife of that name (Simpson, The Viking World, p. 129).

Richard de la Croix. Badge. Argent, a unicorn rampant sable within a bordure dovetailed gules.

Ricola of Fenhop. Device. Per bend wavy azure and argent, in bend a heron volant, wings elevated and addorsed, argent and in vend three cattails palewise proper.

Rionach O'Melaghlin. Device. Per fess wavy argent and purpure, a harp and an otter statant counterchanged.

Sabrina Goldbender. Name and device. Per fess nebuly vert and argent, a chasing hammer fesswise Or and a thistle, slipped and leaved, purpure.

Simeon ben Jabez. Name and device. Or, on a bend between two stars of David azure, a sword Or, all within a bordure azure. Please ask the submittor to make the bordure wider.

Tzipporah bat Deborah. Change of device. Gules, on a pale embattled between in chief two bees Or, in base a bee gules.

Ursa Little Paw. Name and device. Per bend sinister sable and Or, a bear's paw print counterchanged.

Weyland O'Faoláin. Name only.

Yvonne Yvette de Plumetot. Name and device. Gules, in chief two harps within an orle Or.

Returns

KINGDOM OF ANSTEORRA

Black Lake, Shire of. Badge. Barry wavy argent and sable, a tower gules. Since the Society traditionally treats chaussé and chapé as specialized field divisions, Silver Trumpet is technically correct in citing a conflict with Edwin FitzLloyd ("ermine, chaussé raguly vert, a tower gules.").

Cadwallader the Crazed. Badge. Quarterly azure and argent, and eagle's head couped and sinister facing sable. While the technical point count carries this clear of David Davidson of Renwick ("Quarterly azure and argent, a raven's head, erased and sinister facing, sable and in chief two mullets of eight points counterchanged."), a comparison of the two emblazon sheets show they are visually far too close together, especially since the two heads are in identical postures and much of the line of the neck lies on the low contrast portion of the field.

Ciarán O'Meara. Name only. The name is in direct conflict with the previously registered name of Ciaran Mac Meara.

Garwen of Caerleon. Device. Azure, a stag trippant argent, on a chief Or, three roses azure. We were reluctantly forced to agree with those who found this in conflict under the current rules with Eamon Deimne James Hennessy ("Vert, a stag trippant argent, on a chief Or, three pairs of arrows in saltire sable."): as the pairs of arrow in Eamon's device are really single units visually, only difference of type and tincture is derived from the tertiaries and so this cannot be considered to equate to a major point of difference.

Thorid Gnyrlik of Wolfstar. Device. Erminois, on a saltire raguly sable, a wolf's head cabossed argent. Sadly, Silver Trumpet was technically correct in calling conflict with the badge of Traidenis Vilkas of Winter Oak ("On an acorn sable, a wolf's head cabossed argent."): under the current rules, no difference is derived for the field and only a major for the complete difference of the primary charge, since the two primary charges are themselves charged (with the same charge!).

KINGDOM OF CALONTIR

Reynald il Bianco. Device. Sable, three piles issuant from dexter argent, overall a pithon, wings displayed gules. The submission was blazoned on the letter of intent as "piley from dexter" and the intent here seems to have been to have "Barry pily". However, the field is not evenly divided and, as the emblazon is drawn, is as blazoned above with argent piles are a sable field. This makes the pithon technically colour on colour.

KINGDOM OF THE EAST

Aonghais Dubh MacTarbh. Badge for Clann Creachainn. On a strawberry leaf Or, a gemstone gules. There are several problems with the badge. The first is that the foliage depicted is not recognizable as a strawberry leaf, even a "warped" one, as it was described by Brigantia. Several commentors thought it resembled military "scrambled eggs" and certainly this is closer to three oak leaves than one strawberry leaf. Moreover, leaving aside the identifiability of the gemstone (which could, as Green Anchor noted, be as well blazoned as a "cartouche gules"), there is no real method of ensuring its precise position on the foliage, if this is a single leaf, and this position is essential to the design. Clearly, His Grace desires to register a portion of his ducal coronet for the use of his household. While it is true that precedent indicates that a single strawberry leaf is not reserved to those of ducal rank, precedent also dictates that a piece of jewelry is not as such registerable: "We all recognize that beautiful pieces of jewelry; there are people making a living out of selling reproductions of it; in some senses it is copyright and in others it is in the public domain, and you cannot register it." This ruling seems as valid now as when Karina of the Far West first issued it ten years ago.

Catlin nic Brian. Name and device. Vert. a unicorn's head couped argent, horned Or, within bordure argent, semy of roses gules. AS Brachet noted, the byname, which uses the Irish feminine patronymic particle, should follow Irish grammar: "ni Bhriain". This makes the sound and appearance, as well as the meaning, of the name too close to that of Caitriona ni Bhriain. Also, under the current rules this does technically conflict with the cited device of Beryl de Folo ("Vert, a unicorn's head erased argent, on a chief argent, a helmed death's head between two roses vert."): as the tincture of the horn does not really contribute difference, the current rules require that the totality of difference be derived from the type of secondary charge (a major point) and the number and tincture of the tertiaries (minors). This is not quite enough to clear the technical conflict.

Donal Artur of the Silver Band. Device. Argent, on a bend azure between two ermine spots sable, three suns Or. Visual conflict with Exall ("Ermine, on a bend azure, three estoiles Or.", cited in Papworth, p. 238).

Helen of Dianasgrove. Device. Sable, an Irish wolfhound and a stag combattant, on a chief argent, a vine embowed sable, leaved vert. Brigantia appealed the return of this submission for excessive reference to the myth of Artemis/Diana and Acteon on the grounds that the reference, although intentional, is not offensive and did not in fact contain a claim to divine powers. It is not merely Laurel's classical background which applies here: several other commentors and Laurel staff noted the problem. As the Æthelmarc Herald noted, taken in context with the surrounding legends and the records of Artemisian sacrifice, which in some cases involved sacrifices of human surrogates for Artemis, this passes beyond mere allusion and into the excessive and (potentially offensive) area.

Maeve ni Siurtain. Device. Or, on a chief doubly enarched a mullet of eight points argent. A comparison of the two emblazons indicates that this is visually in conflict with the badge of Rhwth Rhys of Eldatir, cited on the letter of intent ("Argent, on a chief doubly enrached azure, an estoile argent.").

Meiadoc Andoeth of the Towers Fells. Name only. The submittor, who is a graduate student in Celtic languages and literature at Harvard, learnedly discoursed on the fact that "an" is a period prefix used to negate adjectives such as "doeth" (wise). In this she is absolutely correct. Unfortunately, she provided no documentary evidence to support the lack of a nasal mutation in formation of the compound adjective. Both Brachet and at least one member of Laurel staff have searched diligently for some example where the nasal mutation was ignored in Middle Welsh and have been unable to fund any: while some mutations do not take place regularly in Middle Welsh, all examples of the prefixitive "an" seem to have appropriately modified the following root adjective or noun. As Brachet notes, the classic instance of this is probably the name for the underworld in Welsh myth: "Annwyn" or "Annwfn" from "an" + "dwfn" ("not-world"). As the submittor allowed no changes whatsoever, we could not register the documented form "Annoeth".

Reynard le Gascon. Name only. The famous French poetic version of "The Fox and the Grapes" begins "Un certain reynard de Gascogne"...(i.e., "a certain fox of Gascony"). This is rather too close...

KINGDOM OF MERIDIES

Evayne Addenbrooke. Device. Azure, three pallets and three barrulets fretted in sinister base, in dexter chief a rose argent, barbed and seeded proper. While this resubmission laudably simplifies the device, it does not resolve the problem with the off-center "cross" which produces a distinctly non-period dynamically unbalanced design. Additionally, this now conflicts with the device of Maria Mindalova ("Azure, an almond flower proper."). Whether you consider the "cross" effect to be a primary or a secondary charge, it can add at most a major point of difference and the difference between an almond flower and an heraldic rose is at most a minor.

Gwyneth Greentree. Device. Per fess vert and argent, in pale a staff lodged guardant and in fess a weeping willow couped and a fir tree couped counterchanged. This falls under the ban on "slot machine heraldry" as it shows three charges of different types in a standard group arrangement (one and two) on the field.

KINGDOM OF THE WEST
