Unto the members of the College of Arms and all others who may read this missive does Da'ud ibn Auda, Laurel King of Arms, send Greetings!

The attached Letter of Acceptances and Returns covers the two Letters of Intent (Ansteorra 3/7 and Trimaris 3/15) considered at the Sunday Laurel meeting held at the Symposium in Hurst, Texas on July 1. As the actual change of the Laurel office occured at the halfway point of that meeting, Mistress Alisoun made the decisions on the Ansteorran letter and I made those on the Trimarian letter.

The July Laurel meeting will be held on Saturday, July 28, and will consider the letters of intent dated in April: Caid (4/1), Atlantia (4/4), Caid (4/6), West (4/16), Meridies (4/23), An Tir (4/24), East (4/25), Ansteorra (4/27), and Calontir (4/30).

The August Laurel meeting is scheduled for August 25, and will consider the letters of intent dated in May: West (5/8), Trimaris (5/15), East (5/25), Atlantia (5/29), Meridies (5/29), and Calontir (5/31).

The September Laurel meeting is currently scheduled for September 29, and will consider the letters of intent dated in June.

ROSTER CHANGES

Lady Aten asks that you add to the mailing list Lord Lyonel Oliver Grace, Golden Wing Herald, as a commenter. His address is c/o Dennis Grace, 441 E. Putnam, Pocatello, Idaho 83201, and his telephone number is (208) 233-1208.

SYMPOSIUM FOLLOW-UP

Something I found I had neglected to follow-up on at the Symposium is the question of whether or not the College should hold a separate symposium next year. The reason for the question is the possible division of time and funds for many members of the College who may wish to attend either the 25th Year Celebration or the twentieth anniversary for Pennsic or both. I would like to get any opinions either way from you by the first of September, 1990, so that we may make a decision on this and, if necessary, place a call for bids if the College decides that a separate heraldic symposium is a good idea.

MISCELLANY

From a letter in the June 1990 issue of The Heraldry Gazette (published by The Heraldry Society, England), is a letter on page 8 remarking on the quality of proofreading in Clive Wainwright's book The Romantic Interior. The author of the letter noted a blazon in the book: "Argent, two boxes counter salient in Saltire Gules, a mullet for difference". The reference should have read "two foxes counter salient". Does this remind anyone of the late "thistle rampant"?

I remain, as ever,

Your servant,
