Unto the members of the College of Arms does Da'ud ibn Auda, Laurel King of Arms send Greetings!;

My Lords and Ladies,

Herein are corrections to various Letters of Acceptances and Returns. The backlog filing is gradually getting to the point that we can start on the "backlog" requests for corrections. I will try to go over the remaining correction requests in the next month or two, review them, and make those that seem necessary. Thank you for your patience regarding those corrections requested for LoARs prior to July 1990.

Corrections to the October 1990 LoAR

ATENVELDT

Ulbhaid nan Monadh Dhubh. Name and device.

This submission was accidentally listed in both the Acceptances and in the Returns. Both the name and device were returned for the reasons given in that section. (That's the trouble with spending your days doing a lot of copying -- it sometimes becomes so automatic that you don't always hit the "move" key rather than "copy".)

Corrections to the September 1990 LoAR

ANSTEORRA

Elfsea, Barony of. Badge. [Fieldless] A portcullis argent charged with an escallop inverted azure.

The tincture of the tertiary was accidentally given in the LoAR as argent.

Marguerite de la Souche. Device. Or, a winged cat sejant affronty, wings displayed, azure and in base two sprigs of lilac in saltire purpure slipped and leaved vert.
The sprigs should be in base, not in bast (wherever that is).

Torre de los Brazos, Shire of. Device.
The group's designation was accidentally left out of their name.

EAST

Oskar of the Wood. Device. Gules, a stag springing argent and in sinister chief a decrescent Or within a bordure ermine.

The stag's tincture was accidentally left out of the blazon. It is argent, not Or.

MERIDIES

Raphael de Mont Saint Michel. Name and badge for Brotherhood of the Chymera. Argent, semy-de-lys sable, a dragon's tail bendwise sinister nowed gules within a bordure embattled sable.

The tincture of the dragon's tail was accidentally left out of the blazon in the LoAR. Though the LoI gave the field as "ermine", it is actually "argent, semy-de-lys sable". While the LoI blazoned the primary charge as a "chimera's tail", because of the lack of a standardized depiction of a chimera (some variants have a dragon's head as the tail) we modified the blazon to call it a dragon's tail.

WEST

Alisaundre of Kilmaron. Device.

Submitted as Alisaundre de Kilmaron, the name was registered as Alisaundre of Kilmaron in the LoAR of June 17, 1990.

Corrections to the August 1990 LoAR

ATLANTIA

Meghan of Caer Ddafydd. Name only.

Submitted as Meghan of Caer Daibhidh, the group name was returned by Mistress Alisoun some time ago, and the appeal of the name was also returned. We have modified the locative as the submitter's forms allowed to the closest form suggested by Mistress Alisoun.

Corrections to the June 1990 LoAR

MERIDIES

Rudiger Macklin. Device. Argent, scaly vert, on a compass star, nowed and elongated to base sable, a winged ram argent.

The LoAR accidentally left out the tincture of the primary.

WEST

Cynon Yscolan ap Myurddin. Device. Vert, three ermine spots in pall inverted, tails outwards, Or.

The word "inverted" was accidentally left out of the LoAR.

Joab Cohen. Device. Argent, a pall inverted vert, in dexter chief a panther rampant guardant sable, incensed gules.
The LoAR accidentally placed the panther in sinister chief.

Corrections to the April 1990 LoAR

CAID

Monique Larrivé. Badge. Azure, upon and maintained by a mouse sejant erect affronty Or, a fleur-de-lys azure.

The affronty posture of the mouse was accidentally left out of the LoAR.

Corrections to the March 1990 LoAR

CAID

Cælia Blackwolf of Mistygrove. Device. Argent, a chevron inverted gules between three wolf's pawprints, two and one, overall a wolf's head, couped, ululant and sinister facing, sable.

The "howling" nature of the head was left out of the blazon.

Caoilfhionn Maire Caitlin O'Neill. Name and device.
The given name only has two n's, not the three given in the LoAR.

Martin le Harpur of Faulkbourne. Device. Azure, a falcon, reguardant and wings displayed, argent, statant upon a harp Or within a bordure ermine.
The wings on the emblazon form are displayed rather than elevated, and the tincture of the falcon was accidentally left out of the blazon.

Roger Wells the Dragon's Bane. Device. Or scaly vert, a wyvern displayed gules.
The primary was blazoned in the LoAR as a "dragon affronty, wings displayed, lacking forelegs". Parker, pp. 122-123, clearly shows wyverns as having rear legs but no forelegs, so we can simplify the blazon here somewhat by simply calling it a wyvern.

Corrections to the August 1988 LoAR

ATLANTIA

Domnhall Mac Giolla Bhrighde. Device. Aaure, a stag springing argent, on a chief dovetailed Or, two estoiles of eight points sable.

As given in the LoAR (and the Armorial), the "azure" stag would be very difficult to see against the azure field. It's tincture is actually argent.
