January 1992

Unto the members of the College of Arms does Da'ud ibn Auda, Laurel King of Arms send Greetings!

My Lords and Ladies,

Herein are corrections to various Letters of Acceptances and Returns.

Corrections to the December 1991 LoAR

ATLANTIA

Diego of Hawkwood. Holding name.

The holding name formed at the Laurel meeting was "John of Hawkwood". As a number of you have noted (and have told Laurel), this conflicts with Sir John Hawkwood (ca. 1320-1394). As this is an administrative holding name, rather than a registration, we can correct this situation here, and do so.

Jesmaine of Volchevo Lesa. Name.

This name was missed in making the correction to the documented form from "Yolchevo Lesa".

Corrections to the November 1991 LoAR

MERIDIES

Adallindis aus Anderbach. Name.

Although both the name and device were listed in the LoAR as having been returned, the name was actually registered at the December 1991 Laurel meeting. (Someone used the wrong macro -- Sorry about that!)

CALONTIR

Branwen Gwenyth Anrias. Device. Vert, a chevron between two flutes chevronwise and a dragon segreant argent, all within a bordure ermine.

Laurel is certain that he meant to keep the bordure when typing up the LoAR. Really! (Sorry about that!)

Corrections to the October 1991 LoAR

CAID

Bard's Keep, Canton of. Device. Per fess barry wavy argent and azure, on a chief wavy azure a laurel wreath Or between two towers argent.

The blazon given in the LoAR would have required a color on color chief. Laurel on even his worst days usually knows better than that.

Calum Domhnullach a Dalriada. Name.

The byname was typoed in the LoAR as "Dalraida".

CALONTIR

Alexandrina Natalia Cristiano. Device. Or, a dragon and a sealion combattant purpure within a bordure vert.

The bordure was mistakenly quoted as purpure in the LoAR.

Vebjorn Vegandi. Name and device. Per fess sable and gules, in chief a compass star and in base three palets couped at the line of division argent.

The palets are, of course, couped at the line of division, not and the line of division as was misblazoned in the LoAR.

OUTLANDS

Rosalind of Wellmark. Name.

The byname was typoed in the LoAR as "Willmark". (Well, some have said that sometimes Laurel's right hand doesn't know what his left hand is doing -- or in this case, vice versa.)

Corrections to the September 1991 LoAr

ATENVELDT

Kyra Kai ferch Madoc. Badge.

The name was typoed in the LoAR as Kyra Kay ferch Madoc.

ATLANTIA

Fiadnat ní Chonchobair. Name and device. Per pale wavy sable and argent, a doe and a wolf salient respectant counterchanged.

The LoAR accidentally dropped the tincture(s) of the charges.

Corrections to the August 1991 LoAR

ANSTEORRA

Cú Dub MacArtuir. Device.

The above form of the name is what was registered, rather than that (CúáDub mac Artuir) noted in the LoI.

ATENVELDT

Guillaume du Lyon. Device. Azure, on a bend embattled counter-embattled between two fleurs-de-lys Or, two lion's heads erased palewise gules.

The LoAR mistakenly blazoned the bend as embattled only.

Hrodgar Bertolf von München. Name.

The second name was accidentally typoed as "Bertold" in the LoAR.

MERIDIES

Kendra of Kent's Wood. Device. Per bend azure and sable, a bend embattled counter-embattled argent between a lion's head erased and two artist's brushes in saltire Or.

The LoAR mistakenly gave the lion's head as "couped".

TRIMARIS

Nicholaa Kelton. Name.

It should have been noted in the LoAR (and wasn't) that though submitted as Nicholaa O'Kelton, the name had been modified to correct the grammar. Kelton is a placename, and the particle is inappropriate with it.

Corrections to the Armorial and Ordinary

Ælfwynn Fiske. Device. Purpure, a fish haurient between three crescents Or.

The blazon had been changed when registered (May 1990) to a pike, but for reasons of canting the submitter has requested her original blazon of a fish. As the emblazon does not show a pike but more a generic fish, we see no bar to this change.

Alisaundre de Kilmaron. Name.

The name was registered in June 1990 as Alisaundre of Kilmaron, but the submitter's documentation cited a "Thomas de Kilmaron" to 1239 (Black's Surnames of Scotland). Given that documentation, we feel obligated to restore the name as the submitter desires.
