RE: "MISCELLANEOUS GRIPING"

Lord Crux Australis, in his LoC of 25 April and regarding an updated edition of the Rules for Submissions printed in the Proceedings for the 1991 Known World Heraldic Symposium, made a formal call to make the "new pages" to the RfS available. To the best of my knowledge, no such pages are available. My own copy of the Rules have two pages printed out in 12-pitch on a dot matrix printer when the ribbon was fading of revised X.2 and X.4.j.ii, the only changes made to date. No "official" reissue of any pages such as those called for in the LoC has been made, partly owing to the press of other matters, partly because only two changes to the RfS to date make it a lower priority item on my agenda, and partly because I no longer have access to a printer with a matching type face and font size. Lady Triton printed a complete set of the revised RfS on her own initiative (after asking Laurel) in the KWHS Proceedings, for which I thank her. But that printing does not constitute a reissue of the updated RfS by this office, and no pages as those Lord Crux Australis calls for exist at present.

MISCELLANY

Pink is a colour of historic importance in Newfoundland. It is used in arms recently granted to the Honourable James Aloysius McGrath, the Province's Lieutenant-Governor. In Canadian heraldry the term Rose will be used to indicate pink.

[Do not try this in the SCA. The above coat of arms was designed by specially trained professional stunt heralds, and should not be attempted by amateurs.]

Until next month, I remain, as ever, your servant,
