Unto the members of the College of Arms does Shayk Da'ud ibn Auda, Laurel King of Arms, send heartfelt Greetings!

My Lords and Ladies,

Herein are corrections to various Letters of Acceptances and Returns and the Armorial and Ordinary.

November 1993 LoAR

ANSTEORRA

Elwyn Halfmoon. Badge. On a decrescent Or a mullet sable.

The "descrescent" should, of course, have been a decrescent.

ATLANTIA

Malcolm of Gateshill. Name.

Malcom was, of course, a typo (of which there were more than usual in the November 1993 LoAR) for the submitted Malcolm.

Vilkin Jöfursbani. Name and device. Azure, a boar's head couped close contourny and on a chief embattled argent a boar spear reversed azure.

The given was typoed as Vilking. [ÇÈ Vilkin went a-viking, he did ride, uh-huh. ÈÇ J]

CAID

Ceallach mac Gallchobhair. Name and device. Per fess rayonny sable and argent, a phoenix rising contourny Or and a torch sable.

The patronymic was typoed as Galichobhair.

Finn with the Roses. Name change from Finn Silverquill and device change.

The LoAR left out the fact that this was a name change, and not simply a new name.

Maggie of Cnoc Cait. Device. Argent, a cat couchant contourny guardant, a bordure purpure.

Listed in the LoAR as Maggie of Cnoc Chaitt, the above is her registered name.

CALONTIR

Ashikaga no Toshihiro. Name only (see RETURNS for device).

The byname had an extraneous "r" in it: Toshirhiro.

OUTLANDS

Illeana de Castañeda. Name and device. Gules, an owl rising to sinister, wings elevated and addorsed, between three plates within a bordure engrailed argent.

The given was typoed as Illàna, accidentally dropping the "e". The accent grave is from De Felice and is used by him to indicate the quality of a vowel; it is not a part of the name.

WEST

Caoimhín Chonmhaoil Sciach. Name only (see RETURNS for device).

Submitted as Caoimhín Conmhaol Sciach, we have modified the name to improve the grammar.

Yeah, well, we "improved" it with a typo, too. We "corrected" it to Chonmaoil and missed the second necessary "h".

Danegeld Tor, Riding of. Name.

Well, we accidentally dropped the first "e" from Danegeld (making it belong to "Dan Somebody or Other"). Sorry about that!

October 1993 LoAR

ATLANTIA

Vladimir Haraldsson. Name.

Well, this one was a case of duelling typos. The LoI typoed the patronymic as Haroldsson; the LoAR stated that though it was spelled Haroldsson on the LoI, it was spelled Heraldsson on the submitter's forms. The actual spelling on the submitter's forms, and in the documentation, is Haraldsson.

November 1992 LoAR

ANSTEORRA

Conor Mac Cinneide. Badge.

The patronymic particle was mis-typed as mac in the LoAR. The registered form is capitalized.

EAST

Finnabair Heron. Name.

Originally typoed on the LoI as Finnebair, it was hand-corrected on the hard copy, but not, apparently, on the electronic one from which Laurel copied it.

June 1992 LoAR

EAST

Sela nic a'Phearsoin of Clan Chattan. Device. Argent, a catamount rampant guardant sable, marked argent, a ford proper, and on a chief azure a sun argent.

The device was listed as Sela Mac'a'Phearsoin of Clan Chattan, but the name was registered as above in May 1992.

October 1990 LoAR

EAST

Beccan mac Ferganainm. Device. Azure, a dragon dormant Or within an orle of trees argent.

The LoAR gave the field tincture as "argent", making the dragon metal on metal and the trees effectively invisible.

Armorial and Ordinary

Bearrach Aelwyn the Wolfhead. Device. Per bend sinister bendy sinister argent and vert and argent, in sinister base a brown wolf's head, erased and affronty, maintaining in its mouth a garden rose gules.

The entry in the A&O lacks the second "sinister", making the chief portion of the field simply "bendy".

Brilliana de Montreau. Device. Checky of nine purpure and Or, three fleurs-de-lys Or.

This was misblazoned in the LoAR of November 1989 and made it unscathed into the A&O as "Per fess purpure and Or, on a fess counterchanged between in chief two fleurs-de-lys, a fleur-de-lys Or." It should, of course, have been a pale, which Baron Bruce would have reblazoned as checky of nine along with several others.

Dafydd ap Gwystl. Device. Argent, on a bend sinister engrailed between six gouttes azure an arrow Or.

The A&O is missing the necessary word "sinister" after "bend".

Eiluned Gruffydd of Anglesey. Device.

Submitted, and registered, in the April 1990 LoAR under the name Eiluned ferch Gruffydd of Anglesey, the name was registered as above.

Jean Pierre Duquesne. Device. Quarterly azure and azure, ermined, on a cross floretty engrailed between in bend two leopard's heads jessant-de-lis Or, a cross floretty azure.

The blazon in the A&O has transmogrified the crosses "floretty" into crosses "fluorite". [Next thing you know, they'll be putting into our water and toothpaste and try to tell us that it's good for us! :) ]

Olaf Askoldssonn. Device. Per chevron inverted sable and argent, a horn-crested helmet affronty and two wings conjoined counterchanged, in chief a ducal coronet Or.

Apparently his November 1988 addition of the coronet to his arms has not made it into the A&O. (Though the April 1986 addition of the second "n" to the patronymic did.)

Thomas of Calais. Name.

Registered in the LoAR of August 1990, for some reason this didn't make the transfer to the A&O.
