Unto the members of the College of Arms does Shayk Da'ud ibn Auda, Laurel King of Arms, send heartfelt Greetings!

Herein are corrections to various Letters of Acceptances and Returns and the Armorial and Ordinary.

April 1995 LoAR

CAID

Vyvyene von Cnutlingen. Name and device.

The placename was misspelled Cautlingen on the LoAR.

March 1995

CAID

Edith of Warwick. Device change. Per pale gules and sable, a lion passant to sinister, on a chief argent three roundels sable.

This is a reblazon request (from Per pale gules and sable, a lion passant contourny, on a chief argent three ogresses) by the submitter, who prefers passant to sinister to the current passant contourny because she "is sinister-handed".

I am normally somewhat reticent to allow submitters to dictate or request specific forms of blazon. This is at least in part because, as has been said many times, "we register the emblazon, not the blazon", and there are a number of devices which have been reblazoned by various Laurels as our knowledge of heraldry (and blazon) has improved over the years. Thus, Laurel must retain the ability to modify a blazon when there is an heraldic need to do so, and should not be "straight-jacketed" into a blazon which the submitter prefers, but which may not in the end be as accurate as a different blazon would be.

Here, however, there is a choice between two equally accurate and equally acceptable blazons. (Well, more than that, really. The tertiary roundels could also be blazoned as pellets or gunstones, giving us two more alternatives.) As a consequence, I have no qualms about giving the submitter the blazon she prefers.

August 1994 LoAR

CAID

Eibhilín Nic Thighearnáin. Name and device. Argent, two sea-horses erect respectant, in chief an ivy leaf vert, a base wavy azure.

The LoAR accidentally dropped the tincture of the base.

March 1994 LoAR

EAST

Æthelric Lundonie. Name and device.

Submitted as AEthelric Lundonie, the LoAR accidentally dropped the "i" from the byname.

Armorial and Ordinary

Eirikr Sigurdharson. Badge (held jointly with Astridhr Selr Leifsdottir). [Fieldless] A demi-eagle displayed gules issuant from an estoile Or.

The joint badgeholder's name is misspelled Astridhr Seir Leifsdottir.

Gregory Frazer MacAonghais. Badge. Per pale gules and azure, on a mullet of seven points inverted Or a cinquedia inverted, dependent from the quillions a pair of balance pans sable.

The August 1984 LoAR accidentally dropped the tincture of the mullet.

Jolitte Marie Catherine Tollmache. Device. Vert, on a fess of three fusils argent three fleurs-de-lis sable.

The June 1989 LoAR accidentally dropped the tincture of the fess.

Lynnette de Sandoval del Valle de los Unicornios. Name.

Listed in the Armorial as Lynnette Sandoval del Valle de los Unicornios, her name changed adding the first "de" was approved in the April 1986 LoAR.

Rebecca de Ravenstein. Device. Vert, a rebec in bend sinister pegheads in chief crossed by a bow fesswise Or.

The charges were blazoned in the A&O as argent, but the forms all have Or.
