Armorial and Ordinary

Elisabeth of Lincolnshire. Device. Per bend purpure and azure, a marguerite slipped Or banded upon the stalk with a ribbon argent. Blazoned in the Armorial as proper slipped Or, the flower here is entirely Or (though drawn with the petals in yellow and the seeding and slip in gold). Osprey, Shire of the. Device. Azure, an osprey stooping within a laurel wreath argent, as an augmentation in chief three mullets in chevron argent. The shire's device and the augmentation granted it by the Crown of Meridies were listed separately in the A&O. Our preferred practice is to blazon them in the form above, "[Blazon of device], [and] as an augmentation [blazon of augmentation]". Seamus a' Chnuic Ghuirm. Device. Argent, a trillium inverted purpure barbed vert and seeded Or. Blazoned in the Armorial as a stinking benjamin's (Wake robin) bloom proper, the above blazon is as accurate and has the benefit of being more understandable without requiring recourse to a tome on botany.
