Miscellany From Laurel (Harold Breakstone) and Clarion (Randall of Hightower), November 1971:

. . . II. HOWEVER, All scrolls of arms given within the Society must contain certain elements of information, without which they will not be considered as valid instructions in the Society.
These elements of information are:
1) The name of the King granting the Arms.
2) Mention that this is done with the consent of the Imperial College (i.e. that the Imperial College has found no impediment to the granting of these Arms.)
3) The name of the Donee receiving the Arms.
4) The blazon of the Arms.
5) The emblazon of the Arms. N.B. THESE TWO SHOULD AGREE
6) Mention that the donee has the sole and exclusive right to bear these Arms in the Society from the date of giving onward.
7) The reason for which the Arms are being given: whether an Award, a Grant, or a Patent of Arms; if a Grant, for holding what office; if a Patent, whether for Knight or Master-at-Arms, Lady of the Rose, or Master or Mistress of the Laurel.
8) The date on which the Arms were granted.
9) The signature of the King.
10) The signature of a member of the Imperial College, witnessing that it has found no impediment to the granting of the Arms; this will usually be, but does not have to be, the Principal Herald of the Kingdom.
11) The Seal of the Kingdom, if such exist.
These eleven elements must figure in the scroll of arms if it is to be considered a valid legal instrument within the Society; though they need not occur in the order in which they have been presented here, so long as they do all occur somewhere on the scroll. A useful, though not absolutely necessary element is:
12) The name of the Tourney, Festival, &c., or Place at which the Arms were granted.

Until next month, pray believe that I am, and remain,

Your faithful servant,

Jaelle of Armida
Laurel Queen of Arms
