A New Herald-in-Training

I am pleased to announce that Master Pietari Pentipoika, Pelican King of Arms, and his lady, Kerttu Katariinantytär Roisko, are now proud parents of a baby girl born Thursday, September 21.

Knowne World Heraldic Symposium 2001

It is now official: next year's heraldic symposium will be on June 1-3, 2001. It is, as noted earlier, held in the Barony of Nordskogen (Northshield, Middle), at the DoubleTree Grand Hotel in Bloomington, Minnesota.

A New Precedents Editor

Regretfully, my precedents editor had to give up the job due to mundane work pressures. Therefore my precedents editor is now Jeanne Marie Lacroix from Caid.

Entwining Charges

Clarion (now Batonvert - see below) noted that our current use of the term entwined (or its equivalents) does not indicated whether the surrounding charge is large enough to be considered co-primary or so small it should be considered a maintained charge (or something in between). I do not want to use the word sustained with entwined charges, as neither is sustaining the other, but I am open to suggestions on a way to make the distinction clear in blazon. Until then, entwined charges are generally considered co-primary, but not universally.

More Administrative Handbook Items

One more item: I forgot to mention that I am interested in hearing proposals to add or remove titles from Appendices E: Bibliography of Standard References, F: Names Sources to Be Avoided in Documentation, or H: Name Books That Do Not Require Photocopies to Laurel.

Electronic copy

Remember that while electronic copies are not required, any letters of intent or letters of comment that I receive only in paper has to be scanned in for electronic cut and paste, thus both requiring more work from me and my staff and increasing the chance of error. Therefore if it is feasible, please send me the second copy as an electronic copy rather than a paper copy. Most of you do so already, thank you.
