For the November 2001 meetings, printed 31 January 2002

[NOTE not in the original printed and mailed copy: this was printed and mailed in February. It will therefore be considered with February LoIs and will be ruled on at the June meeting, not the May meeting as implied below.]

To all the College of Arms from François Laurel, Zenobia Wreath, and Mari Pelican, health and good friendship.

This letter contains the issues raised in the November 2001 LoAR for CoA discussion. The text in this letter is copied verbatim from that LoAR; it is provided here for convenience.

As with a January LoI, original commentary must be in the College's hands no later than March 31, 2002. Responses and rebuttals to commentary must be in the College's hands no later than April 30, 2002.

  1. The Lingua Anglica Allowance. Cover-letter issue from Pelican.

A submission this month generated some questions regarding the Lingua Anglica allowance. Precedents that outlined the scope of the Lingua Anglica allowance were included in the January 1993 Letter and in the December 1995 LoAR (pp. 21-22 s.n. Ananda the Fiery). The specific questions that need to be discussed at this time are:

  2. Konrad von Falkenberg. Device. Gules, a wolf's head erased argent and on a chief Or three fleurs-de-lys sable.

This was item number 24 in the Caid LoI of July 10, 2001.

The chief in the provided form is clearly Or, and it was blazoned in the Letter of Intent as argent.

  3. Chlothar Bructerus. Device. Per saltire sable and gules, a saltire gringolé voided humetty Or and a bordure argent.

This was item number 7 in the Trimaris LoI of July 7, 2001.

The tincture of the saltire was omitted in the Letter of Intent.

Pray know that I remain

In service
