For the August 2002 meetings, printed November 14, 2002

To all the College of Arms and all others who may read this missive, from François Laurel, Zenobia Wreath, Mari Pelican, and Margaret Cornelian, health and good friendship.

Herein are corrections to various Letters of Acceptances and Returns and the Armorial:

The original blazon omitted the posture of the unicorn.

August 1983

ANSTEORRA

Shadowlands, Shire of the. Guild name Sterregazerers Gylde of the Shire of the Shadowlands.

The LoAR read "*Shadowlands, Shire of the. (badge for the Sterregazerers Gylde of the Shire of the Shadowlands). Sable, a comet bendwise sinister Or between in bend a mullet of nine points and an increscent argent." The guild name should have been explicitly registered and it was not.

April 1984

EAST

Mountain Confederation. Badge correction. Per fess embattled azure and Or, a tyger sejant erect Or and a triple-peaked mountain issuant from base azure.

The original blazon omitted the tincture of the tyger.

April 1990

The original LoAR failed to note the registration of the order name at the time the badge for the order was registered.

In the original blazon, it was unclear whether the mascles were charges on an orle or just arranged in orle.

May 1998

EAST

Catriona of Downpatrick. Device correction. Sable, two needles in saltire Or between four double roses Or and gules.

In the original blazon, the tincture of the needles was unclear.

February 1999

MIDDLE

Kenric Bjarnarson. Badge correction. (Fieldless) On a lozenge ployé vert two pheons in pale conjoined at the base throughout Or.

The original blazon omitted the tincture of the lozenge.

August 1999

CAID

Judwiga Czarna Pika ze Smocza Jamy. Conversion of device to badge. Or, a heart per pale indented sable and gules within a bordure vert.

When the submitter registered a new device in August 1999, the LoAR did not indicate the disposition of her previous device, shown here. The previous device has been maintained in the Ordinary and Armorial as a second device. This must be corrected, since the Administrative Handbook section II.D.1 only allows any individual submitter to have one device. The submitter's paperwork shows that she had intended the previous device to be maintained as a badge.

November 1999

ATLANTIA

Atlantia, Kingdom of. Ensign. Per pale argent and azure, a fess wavy cotised counterchanged.

The LoAR failed to note that this badge was for the ensign of Atlantia.

April 2000

MERIDIES

Adrienne de Montjoye. Device correction. Azure, a chevron engrailed between two fleurs-de-lys and a swan naiant contourny argent.

The word "contourny" was misspelled in the original blazon.

June 2000

ANSTEORRA

Barnabas Thorns. Device correction. Per bend sinister sable and argent, a hawk displayed fesswise reversed argent and a peacock feather bendwise sinister vert.

The original blazon omitted the tincture of the hawk.

November 2001

CALONTIR

The title was misspelled Vold on the LoAR.

April 2002

EAST

Charles of Giggleswick. Device correction. Per fess purpure and azure, a fess wavy Or.

The original blazon reversed the tinctures of the field.

Morgan ap Rhys ap Bran. Device correction. Counter-ermine, a sun argent charged with a lion's head caboshed gules and on a chief embattled argent two roses sable.

The original blazon omitted the orientation of the lion's head.

June 2002

ÆTHELMEARC

Alaxandair Ó Conchobhair. Name correction from Alaxandair O Conchobhair.

In registering his badge, the LoAR misspelled his name as Alaxandair O Conchobhair. The above is the registered spelling.

Geoffrey de Montgomeri. Name correction from Geoffrey de Montgomery.

The name was listed on the LoI and LoAR as Geoffrey de Montgomery, but both the forms and the documentation show the spelling as Geoffrey de Montgomeri.

ATLANTIA

Ranulf of Waterford and Caitlyn O'Duirnin. Acceptance of transfer of badge for House Azami from Ysabeau Cameron and Laeghaire O Laverty. Argent, in pall inverted three thistles, slipped and leaved, conjoined at the slips, all within a bordure sable.

The forms indicated that this was a transfer of household name and badge, but the LoAR failed to note the transfer of badge.

Ysabeau Cameron and Laeghaire O Laverty. Transfer of badge for House Azami to Ranulf of Waterford and Caitlyn O'Duirnin. Argent, in pall inverted three thistles, slipped and leaved, conjoined at the slips, all within a bordure sable.

The forms indicated that this was a transfer of household name and badge, but the LoAR failed to note the transfer of badge.

LOCHAC

Ruth of Innilgard. Holding name correction from Laufey rauğrefr.

Submitted under the name Laufey rauğrefr, that name was returned in the April 2002 LoAR.

July 2002

ATENVELDT

Cosimo Orsini. Name.

The LoAR returned his name and device, saying that they had been withdrawn by the submitter. However, only his device had been withdrawn.

Fintán mac Meic Con. Name correction from Fintán Mac Con and commentary.

Pelican changed the name as reflected in the commentary below, but the name change was not recorded on the LoAR:

Submitted as Fintán Mac Con, the submitter requested authenticity for Irish. Mac Con is a Gaelic masculine given name. As period Irish Gaelic did not use either unmarked patronymics or double given names, this name is not registerable in the submitted form. The early form of a patronymic byname based on Mac Con would be mac Meic Con. We have changed the name to a consistently early form to meet the submitter's request for authenticity.
