College of Arms
For the February 2005 meetings, printed May 16, 2005
To all the College of Arms and all others who may read this missive, from Elisabeth Laurel Queen of Arms, Gwenllian Wreath, and Margaret Pelican, greetings.
First, thanks to everyone who has helped to make the first twelve days of my tenure as Laurel as informative and pleasant as possible. There is a very great deal to learn, and as I’ve discovered in previous jobs administrative and otherwise, you don’t really know what it’s like until you’re actually there. So to my esteemed predecessor Master François, Pelican, Wreath, other members of the Laurel staff and the College of Arms, my deep appreciation. This is going to be fun, no, really.
I will of course be attending Known World Heraldic Symposium in the Outlands July 22-24, 2005. Principal Heralds please note -- I strongly encourage you to attend, and look forward to meeting with you there, but this year your attendance is elective. So that you can plan ahead, be aware that I will likely require attendance next year, as by then there should be a number of changes under consideration that would benefit from personal discussion.
Except in case of a true heraldic emergency, which I find hard to envision, please contact me by telephone only until 10 p.m. Pacific time.
