Not all letters of intent may be considered when they are originally scheduled on this cover letter. The date of mailing of the LoI, date of receipt of the Laurel packet, or other factors may delay consideration of certain letters of intent. Additionally, some letters of intent received may not have been scheduled because the administrative requirements (receipt of the forms packet, receipt of the necessary fees, et cetera) have not yet been met. Letters which are currently unscheduled appear inside square brackets in the lists, above. REMINDER: Until all administrative requirements are met, the letter may not be scheduled. **** FROM LAUREL - A Clarification **** Regalia for the Order of Knighthood includes (Tinctureless) A circular chain. This means a circular chain of any tincture, not just gold. It was so designated by Laurel in 1998, so there is nothing new here. Wreath tells me that some have interpreted this to mean that any necklace, whether or not it is unadorned, should be restricted. That is not the case. A necklace with a pendant is not the same as a knight's chain and there should be no question of improper use of a restricted charge in such a submission. **** FROM LAUREL - New Education Deputy **** I am pleased to announce that Herrin Gisela vom Kreuzbach, of Atlantia, has accepted the position of Laurel Education Deputy. Her contact information will appear on the roster, but for now she may be reached at scribe0002@aol.com. I appreciate her willingness to help this important work go forward and know that she will do a fine job of it. **** FROM LAUREL - Changes at the Web Site **** I would encourage everyone to regularly check the Laurel web site for changes. Dame Zenobia's article "Period Rolls of Arms and Armorials (and how to find them)" has been expanded to include 20 rolls and armorials (the previous version had 12), and been reorganized by nationality of the heraldry and by time within each nationality, as well as with revised links and contact information. Watch this space for more updates. **** FROM LAUREL - New Forms Implementation **** As each Kingdom now has an approved version of the new version of the submission forms in place, it is time to officially implement their use. As of the May 2007 Letter of Intent, each Kingdom's name and armory submissions must appear on the new forms, or be subject to administrative return. **** FROM LAUREL - Regarding Notification **** When the office of Principal Herald changes hands, or that of an external submissions herald, this is of considerable interest outside the Kingdom in question, and particularly to Laurel and staff. I find that I am increasingly discovering these things by reading Kingdom newsletters, or by requests for OSCAR accounts by persons unknown to me stating they are the new Bonacon Herald. This is not how I prefer to receive such news. Principal Heralds, when you are turning over your office, please do remember to tell me about it directly, and even an electronic introduction to your designated successor would be appreciated. I would also point out that the Administrative Handbook V.B.1. states that "Prior written notice must be provided to the Laurel Office for any change of authorized preparer", i.e. of the Letter of Intent. This should come from the Principal Herald, not the outgoing or incoming external submissions herald themselves. **** FROM LAUREL - OSCAR updates **** The changes on OSCAR this month have been for the most part minor. For example, rules letters are now a letter type, only the filing name stays around when you enter a submission so you do not have to type it again, you can entirely turn off display of comments, and there are new preferences for display of names or armory only. Thanks to those commenters and submission heralds who have had problems with using OSCAR, or suggestions for improvement, who have talked to Istvan Blue Tyger about it and thus become part of the solution. Please continue as you have begun. **** Roster Changes **** Laurel's new education deputy is Gisela vom Kreuzbach (Kate Rauhauser-Smith). She is on the roster but not the mailing list. She can be reached at ... scribe0002@aol.com Martinus Draco Byzantios has retired as Saker Herald (Submissions, Calontir). He is removed from the roster and mailing list. The new Saker Herald is Lady Ines Alf{o'}n (Sheryl Niemann). She can be reached at ...email: slniemann@gmail.com. She is on the Roster and the Mailing List. Preferences: LoI: e-list. LoC: e-list. **** Send What to Whom **** For all Letters of Intent, Comment, Response, Correction, et cetera, send one paper copy directly to each of the Sovereigns of Arms, Laurel, Pelican and Wreath at their mailing addresses as shown on the College of Arms Roster. Send Laurel office copies of all submissions-related paper, including * Letters of Intent, Comment, Response, Correction, et cetera (note: such paper copies are in addition to the personal copies for Laurel, Pelican and Wreath mentioned above) * Submission packets (one copy of each name form plus documentation, including petitions; two colored copies of each armory form plus two copies of any associated documentation, including petitions) to the SCA College of Arms, PO Box 31755, Billings, MT 59107-1755.
