Additionally, some Letters of Intent received may not have been scheduled because the administrative requirements (packet uploaded to OSCAR by deadline, receipt of the necessary fees, et cetera) have not yet been met._ REMINDER: Until all administrative requirements are met, the letter may not be scheduled. **** From Laurel: Job Opening - Laurel Sovereign of Arms **** The Laurel Principal Sovereign of Arms (Laurel) is the principal heraldic officer of the Society and the head of the College of Arms. Laurel is responsible for fostering the study and practice of heraldry, supervising the processing of submissions, and overseeing the heraldic activities of the Known World. Laurel is an unpaid position, currently requiring approximately 20 hours a week. The position requires considerable tact and patience, armory and onomastic knowledge, supervisory ability, the ability to work within tight deadlines and coordinate closely with Wreath, Pelican, and other staff to produce a Laurel Letter of Acceptance and Return monthly, computer literacy and word processing skills, reliable e-mail and telephone access, and time and ability to travel. Resumes must be sent in both hard copy to Laurel Resume, SCA Inc., Box 360789, Milpitas CA 95036 and electronically to bids@heraldry.sca.org. Resumes must be received by June 1, 2014. The present Laurel's warrant expires in September 2014. Once the application period closes, the names of the candidates will be posted in a cover letter for the review of the College. **** From Laurel: A Candidate for Wreath Queen of Arms **** Several days ago, we posted Brunissende Dragonette's letter of intent for Wreath; you can find it at https://oscar.sca.org/index.php?action=100&loi=2509. We encourage you to share your opinions on OSCAR or to communicate directly to the Laurel office. **** From Laurel Archivist: Archive Requests Reminder **** Please send all archive requests through the official email archivist@heraldry.sca.org. This will ensure continued prompt response as well as enabling better tracking of types and numbers of requests over time. While most replies will be prompt, it should be remembered that some items may need to be retrieved from the not-yet-scanned archives, and the weather may impact the timeliness of responses at times. **** Society Pages **** On January 4, at Twelfth Night in the Barony of the Lonely Tower in Calontir, Dorcas Gold Falcon Principal Herald elevated Caoimhin McKee to the rank and title of Herald Extraordinary. On February 23, at his own monthly heraldic commentary meeting, Gawain of Miskbridge was likewise elevated to the rank and title of Herald Extraordinary by Dorcas Gold Falcon. On February 28, Tymothy Smythson, Aten Principal Herald, elevated Symond Bayard le Gris to the rank and title of Herald Extraordinary. On March 22, at Mudthaw in Settmour Swamp, Baron Rowen Cloteworthy, former Brigantia Principal Herald of the East Kingdom, was made a Companion to the Order of the Pelican.
