This order name follows the pattern of Order of + [Heraldic Charge]. The term mark is a synonym for target that dates back to the late 13th century, with the submitted spelling dating to the mid-15th century. While a target or mark has not been registered as a heraldic charge, an order can be named after any period artifact [08/2022 Cover Letter].

As noted on the Cover Letter, we are also protecting this badge from presumption as a reserved motif which can only be used in armory by members of the Order of the Mark, and we are protecting this badge as regalia for members of the Order of the Mark.

This item was pended on the March 2025 LoAR.

Two white vambraces or bracers is registered and protected as regalia (and as a badge, like other regalia). At this time we are not registering this as a reserved charge, but will be opening a Letter of Discussion for commentary on whether this regalia should be a reserved charge.

In acknowledgement of the diverse forms and ornamentation that vambraces and bracers may possess, we decline to specify a type for the Order, just as we do not specify anything beyond a white belt for the Order of the Chivalry. In order to be considered regalia, the vambraces or bracers themselves must be white.

Much like the superprotection of the white belt as regalia for the Order of Chivalry does not prevent the populace from wearing belts of other colors or metal, the superprotection of two white vambraces or bracers for the Order of the Mark does not mean that members of the populace cannot wear those of another color or metal vambraces or bracers, including ones made of silver, nor does it restrict the use of single vambraces or bracers.
