For the November 2004 meetings, printed March 30, 2005

To all the College of Arms and all others who may read this missive, from François Laurel King of Arms, Evan Wreath, and Margaret Pelican, greetings.

From Laurel: Introducing the Applicants

The office of Laurel Sovereign of Arms have been open for applications for a couple of months. The deadline for submitting an application is the end of March.

At this late date in March I have received two letters of application. One is from Thorvald Redhair of the Middle Kingdom and the other is from Elizabeth de Rossignol of An Tir. The letters of application have been included with this LoAR.

From Pelican: Thoughts on Beyond the Encyclodedia

The College and I are working our way through what makes some historical people important enough to protect under the "Beyond the Encyclopedia" statement issued in August 2003. In the past few months, I have found myself using these guidelines when trying to decide whether the name of a historical figure is important or famous enough to protect. They are not an inclusive set, nor are they a formal part of the rules. However, these are the questions I ask myself when doing case-by-case conflict and presumption considerations:

Roster Changes

Colm Dubh ... is leaving the office of Lambent Herald (Meridies) and is removed from the roster and mailing list. Colm wishes all to know that he and his library remain available to the College. The new Lambert Herald is Bronwen o Gydweli ... email: mistressbronwen@solhaven.com. Lambent is a CoA commenting office for Meridies.

Alban St. Albans ... has left the office of Lanner Herald (Calontir) and is removed from the roster.

Month day: the date on the Letter of Intent, Letter of Pend and Discussion, or Letter of Intent to Protect.
(Month day): for administrative reasons, this LoI has not yet been scheduled.
[P Month day]: postmarked on that bracketed date, so the LoI is redated or postponed.
"-": no LoI is scheduled for that meeting from that kingdom.
?: tentative.

Not all letters of intent may be considered when they are originally scheduled on this cover letter. The date of mailing of the LoI, date of receipt of the Laurel packet, or other factors may delay consideration of certain letters of intent. Additionally, some letters of intent received may not have been scheduled because the administrative requirements (receipt of the forms packet, receipt of the necessary fees, et cetera) have not yet been met.

REMINDER: Until all administrative requirements are met, the letter may not be scheduled.

Pray know that I remain

In service

François la Flamme
Laurel Principal King of Arms
