Not all letters of intent may be considered when they are originally scheduled on this cover letter. The date of posting of the LoI, date of receipt of the Laurel packet, or other factors may delay consideration of certain letters of intent. Additionally, some letters of intent received may not have been scheduled because the administrative requirements (receipt of the forms packet, receipt of the necessary fees, et cetera) have not yet been met.

REMINDER: Until all administrative requirements are met, the letter may not be scheduled.

* From Pelican: A Request for Comments

In the commentary for the name Alys Katerina of Bavaria (Caid, June 30th Letter of Intent), Alys Blue Tyger presented preliminary data to support a possible English-German lingual mix. Although we did not use these data in the consideration of that submission, I am calling for further evidence and commentary on whether we should allow such a combination to be registered. If the data support this lingual mix, Appendix C of SENA would be revised accordingly.

* From Pelican: Authenticity Requests and You

We've had a number of Letters of Intent in recent months where authenticity requests were either omitted or added by mistake, and the problems were not noticed until the end of the commentary period.

I'd like to point out that packets, including submission forms, do not need to be uploaded until the end of the month after the Letter of Intent is issued. For example, a July letter means that the packet has to be uploaded by the end of August. Access to the forms and anything marked private is limited to Submissions and Principal Heralds, Sovereigns of Arms, and staff. Therefore, only a small subset of commenters are able to review the packets and compare them against the information in the Letters of Intent, and even then, only for a portion of the commentary period. If the packets are uploaded late, the window to check the forms is compressed.

Omitted authenticity requests can—and often do—result in pended submissions. Incorrectly added requests waste the valuable time of our commenters, who spend time trying to give the submitters what they want (or at least what we think they want). We ask that Submissions Heralds please double check all Letters of Intent against the submission forms, and that commenters checking the packets please take more care in reviewing the submissions in a timely manner, especially once the packet has been uploaded.
