Not all letters of intent may be considered when they are originally scheduled on this cover letter. The date of posting of the LoI, date of receipt of the Laurel packet, or other factors may delay consideration of certain letters of intent. Additionally, some letters of intent received may not have been scheduled because the administrative requirements (receipt of the forms packet, receipt of the necessary fees, et cetera) have not yet been met.

REMINDER: Until all administrative requirements are met, the letter may not be scheduled.

* From Wreath: Of Polypus' and Calamarie's Tentacles

A precedent from 2012 states:

The tentacles of a polypus should be to base, not both to base and to chief, as we grant difference for tentacles to base, as with a polypus, versus tentacles to chief, as with a calamarie. [James Bacon, 12/12, R-West]

This precedent seems to be occasionally misinterpreted as meaning that a correct depiction would have the tentacles pointing towards the base for a polypus and towards the chief for a calamarie. This is incorrect. The intent is to render the orientation unambiguous and thus the tentacles should be arranged in both cases around the section of the cephalopod that is opposite the head, with less than half going over the midsection and none going further than the head itself.

* From Wreath: No More Billets with Complex Lines

Due to lack of documentation and identifiability issues, billets with complex lines will not be registered after the November 2015 decision meeting without evidence of period practice.

* From Pelican: Proposed Changes to Scandinavian Alternate Titles

Starting late last year, Orle Herald proposed changes to Table 4 of the list of alternate titles (http://heraldry.sca.org/titles.html#table4). The proposal was split into four Ansteorran Letters of Intent dated November 23, January 23, February 4, and February 28, all of which were considered at the May 2015 Pelican decision meeting. The full list of changes is at http://www.vikinganswerlady.com/Stars/Titles/Scandinavian_Titles.htm.

Due to the lack of commentary on this proposal, additional time to write the decisions is needed. Any resulting changes to the Alternate Titles list will be discussed in the August Cover Letter. If anyone has further comments pertaining to this proposal, please send them directly to Pelican ([email protected]) no later than August 1, 2015 in order to meet the publishing deadlines.
