The roundels of each tincture have special names:

  • A plate.

  • A torteau.

  • A bezant.

  • A golpe.
    (A roundel purpure.)

  • A pellet.
    (A roundel sable.) Also called a gunstone or ogress.

  • A pomme.
    (A roundel vert.)

    At least one other roundel has a special name, too:

  • A fountain.
    (A roundel barry-wavy azure and argent.)
